Legal experience:
Qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales since 1994, she worked in London firstly as a caseworker at the Brixton Community law Centre and subsequently as in two leading London firms where she specialised in civil and criminal litigation, was appointed a Duty Solicitor for the Legal Aid Board, and appeared regularly as an advocate in the magistrates courts.
She moved to live in Italy in 2001, and became the first English Solicitor to register with the Ordine degli Avvocati di Roma (Rome Bar Council) under the 1998 EC Regulation on the free movement of lawyers in Europe.
She specialises in the field of private international law, representing individuals and businesses in cross-border legal matters, particularly involving Italy and the United Kingdom. She is listed as a local lawyer at the British Embassy and handles legal matters for overseas residents in Rome and throughout Italy.
As a founding member of the English and Common Law Practice Group, an international grouping of lawyers who are qualified in English law and in the law of other common law systems, she also advises Italian clients in relations to legal matters in England.
Aside from her practice as a lawyer, she has also assisted in the preparation and research for the revised Italy section of the “Encyclopaedia of International Commerical Litigation”, edited by Sir Anthony Colman QC, Kluwer Law International (2000). She worked as a Legal Consultant in public international law for the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and UNESCO in 2004, collaborating in the publication of a Legislative Study: “Groundwater in International Law – Compilation of Treaties and other Legal Instruments.” She has also taught as Professor of Legal English and Advocacy at the Link University of Malta in Rome, the Italian State Prison Service and the Italian Association for the Prevention of Accidents at Work.
