Birmingham law firm The Wilkes Partnership has formed an alliance with Italian practice Studio Legale Paoletti.
Wilkes partners travelled to Rome to finalise a new co-operation agreement with the firm, which also has an office in Milan.
Studio Paoletti deals with Italian and international private civil law, as well as company, industrial, copyright and maritime law. The firm also acts for clients on corporate mergers, acquisitions and international trade.
Nigel Wood, senior partner at Wilkes, said: “Studio Paoletti is one of Rome’s most successful blue chip law firms and their commercial expertise makes them an ideal partner firm for us to work with.
“This is an exciting new initiative for Wilkes as we build on our international expertise with another European partnership.
“The agreement will be of great benefit to clients of both firms, with local expertise to protect their interests in the UK and Italy and advise on legal difference between the two countries.
“Together we provide a full range of legal services to help major international businesses, as well as those looking to invest in foreign projects for the first time.
” The Rome-based firm was founded in 1947 by Carlo Paoletti, father of the current senior partner Fabrizio Paoletti.
This new partnership follows a similar format to the successful agreement that Wilkes has with German firm Preu Bohlig, with offices in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Munich, which has been running since 1999.
